Eight Months Old

Eight months ago this little chica made our lives better.  Eight months before that- to the day- we found out that she would be making us a family of three.

Ruby is so busy.  She is always scooting around on the floor in 360s and from sitting position to her stomach to her back etc.  She does not crawl, but she is a good mover.  When she is in our arms she is doing the best she can to get down, when she is down she wants to be up so she can see.

She jumps off the ledge at the pool by leaning into us.  Even when we put her way up high, she'll lean down to us a good four feet, no fear.

She has her two bottom teeth and is getting her top two now.  And it's a painful process.  For all of us.

Ruby "gets shy" all of the time.   When she is especially excited or nervous she turns her face to the side, looks down, or puts her hands up to her ears.  See below.

She's getting better at giving hugs ("snuggles") and can make a great lip smacking kiss sound to "blow a kiss."  She makes the sound when she wants a drink so it can be a little confusing... but we love it.  She will also make the sound as an attempt to do "fishy lips" which she finds to be especially hilarious.

Sometimes Ruby is a monster.  Meaning she sounds like a monster.  Meaning she growls.  Especially at the dinner time and when Parker and I are talking and not giving her our undivided attention.  She's never really a monster.  She is the sweetest girl we know.

Are you done yet, Mom?
Ruby grabs everything.  She's especially fond of eating paper.  She is starting to figure out cause and effect and has just recently decided it's pretty fun to turn the lights off.  She also started "brushing" her hair today for the first time instead of just eating her brush.  Everyday brings a new adventure with her.

Ruby Marie, you are our joy!  We love you, Sunshine!
